The New Xbox 360 “Slim”

Slimmer, whisper quiet, sleek new design – the new Xbox 360 250GB elite seems like it might be a real hit.

The new 250GB Xbox 360 elite will in fact be Kinetic ready; and that is not it’s only feature. It finally boasts in-built Wi-Fi, and is a fair amount slimmer than the previous models.

The new elite will also run a lot quieter, and the infamous ring of death problem promises to have been fixed with multiple fans and coolers within the system. There is an auxiliary port on the new model, so that it is effectively Kinect ready as soon as you take it out the box. Other models are eligible, but may require an add-on as USB power is not sufficient to run the sensor.

The most striking feature about this new Xbox 360 elite is the slim design, which is bound to make it more popular – and so perhaps with all the problems fixed, the slim and sleek design, and on top of that the Kinect ready port, this model might prove to be a lot more popular and even steal consumers from its competitors.

It’s also taken an increase in storage, and can now hold 250 GB – which is nearly double the last model.

The new 250 GB Xbox 360 elite looks like it will be a real new model with potential to convince many new buyers. With its problems fixed, those who wrote it off before may now have changed their minds, and the Kinetc ready feature will enable many to enjoy the family fun of Kinetc straight out of the box.

New Xbox 360 Kinect

In November 2010, the new Kinect software, and what Microsoft is calling “a controller-free gaming and entertainment experience”, will finally hit the stores. This system will allow users to interact and play without the need to physically touch a controller. How is this going to work? You operate the system using gestures and spoken commands.

Having been announced in 2009, the Kinect software was showcased and tested at an invitation only conference in Los Angeles and it was revealed that the software can recognize up to four people and can even pick out individual fingers if the user is close enough. With 48 points on the body recognized, the Kinect software seems revolutionary. Whilst the Wii opened up the market for motion sensor games, and Sony too have delved into this area of the market – Microsoft’s software, requiring no physical controller at all, is breaking into its own market.

For example, the way you would operate a racing game using the Kinect software would be to turn your hands as if gripping and turning a steering wheel. The device uses a 3D camera and movement recognition software to perform such feats, and other games include Grand slam tennis and even a Michael Jackson game.

With only months to go before the official release of the Kinect software, game developers are all busy making games compatible with the revolutionary step taken by Microsoft. Adding an exciting new way to play games should increase the number of people interested in the Xbox 360; intensifying the ongoing battle between rivals console makers – and this competition only means more games, more software and better entertainment for users.
