This has been an ongoing debate ever since the launch of the PS3 few months after Xbox 360 entered the market. So which is actually better? It was a relief that the consoles have few games in common so the comparisons can be made by running the same game on each console. After playing on the games for some time and considering other factors too Xbox 360 comes out to be a clear winner.
First of all the cost Xbox beats PS3 outright. The XBOX 360 core is only $299 while the PS3 is costs about $499 for the 20GB version. Though PS3 comes with a hard drive it is of little significance as in Xbox360 you don’t need a hard drive to for most of the games. PS3 might look impressive on paper but lacks in performance.PS3 use SPUs which can be useful for exclusive PS3 games but the three general purpose CPUs used by Xbox360 gives more ease of operation in the current market.
In the graphics department too Xbox 360 shines over PS3 .Xbox 360 uses GUI which is much more powerful than the one used by PS3.It has more vertex processing horsepower. It also gives you more pixels per frame and has a better filterate.Xbox360 has back buffers to provide High Definition picture quality. Getting the same in PS3 is quite excruciatingly expensive.
Since the Xbox 360 came earlier by almost a year most game developers have started creating the games considering it to be the platform. They might run on PS3 but will definitely look good and perform better on Xbox 360. Since Xbox is developed on a popular platform like visual basic .net so its development will be faster and easier.
Lastly the online support. Microsoft online support is unmatched. Apart from the user base and the facilities provided by Microsoft it also has more than 100,000 huge Xbox live subscribers.PS3 on the other hand has a no impressive web support.
